AIFC, World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation sign agreement
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation have signed an agreement today whereby the 14th WIEF will be held on 4 July 2018 within the framework of AIFC international presentation in Astana, Kazakhstan, Kazinform has learnt from the AIFC's press service.
China’s Development Bank registers at AIFC
Astana International Financial Centre’s (AIFC) Financial Services Regulatory Committee recently registered the Development Bank of China, which makes it the 10th participant of the centre. It is expected that by the end of this year that number will reach approximately 100.
“The main news for today is the registration of the representation of the Development Bank of China. This is a significant incentive for the flow of solid investors from the People’s Republic of China,” said AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov at a Feb. 20 government meeting.
The official presentation of the AIFC will be July 5, during the 20th anniversary of Astana as the nation’s capital.
Lady Barbara Judge joins Astana Financial Services Authority as Chairman
The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Management Council has appointed Lady Barbara Judge CBE as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), Kazinform has learnt from the AIFC's press service.
Lady Judge, a commercial lawyer, has a broad and successful international career as a senior executive, chairman and non-executive director in both the private and public sectors, and across various industries including energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, retailing and the financial services industry.
Kazakh government to devote $61.4 million annually to develop AIFC
ASTANA – Kazakhstan will devote approximately 20 billion tenge (US$61.4 million) annually over the next three years to develop the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and the centre hopes to attract up to $40 billion in investments within the next 10 years, AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov said recently.

As noted by Kairat Kelimbetov, currently the process of legal deployment of all areas of the AIFC is underway and key partners have already been identified in creating a regional hub capable of attracting international business circles that are interested in investing in emerging markets.
The development of the stock market will also contribute to the successful withdrawal of shares of national companies of the Samruk-Kazyna SWF to an IPO. The mechanism of effective holding of an IPO is being worked out, the process of attracting international players has been launched.
The Astana International Financial Center has started its work
The Astana International Financial Center has started its work. The committee on regulating financial services has been launched under the AIFC. The committee will be engaged in licensing a wide range of money transactions, including investment and asset management. For the first time in the post-Soviet space, as part of the financial center a special jurisdiction with its own right and based on the principles of English commercial law was introduced.
AIFC presented its activities to business community of Malaysia
The delegation of the International Financial Center "Astana" (AIFA), led by Governor of the AIFC Kairat Kelimbetov, presented the presentation of the AIFC for representatives of state bodies and business circles of Malaysia, the Strategy 2050 NA reported.
During the visit, the AIFC Governor also participated in the XIII World Islamic Economic Forum. Within its framework, K. Kelimbetov met with Prime Minister of Malaysia – Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Governor of Sarawak – Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chairman of WIEF Foundation – Tun Dato' Musa bin Hitam, and Executive Director of the National Investment Fund of Malaysia Khazanah Nasional Berhad – Dato Mohd Izani bin Ghani.
The « Astana » International Financial Center to start operations in the EXPO-2017 area upon reconstruction thereof
“I would like to remind that we are one of the basic organizations to be located in the EXPO area after the National Company fulfills the according reconstruction... The International Pavilions Nos. 3 and 4, those located closer to the Mega, there our basic institutions will be placed and the organizations we involve in the AIFC operations,” the AIFC Manager Kayrat Kelimbetov told journalists.
At the press conference at the Government House, K. Kelimbetov informed the journalists of the basic activity lines.
The central priority of the AIFC will be development of capital markets and ensuring of investment inflow to Kazakhstan.
